Naval Sea Systems Command

2005 - 2009

  • Command center watch officer for the Naval Sea systems command center - supporting navsea’s mission to provide continual SYSTEMS support to ships DEPLOYED GLOBALLY

  • Coordinated and collected performance data on seventeen Small Business projects for the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command.  Identified and corrected funding problems on two separate contracts, preventing potential delays in schedule.

  • Participated in process improvement steering group focused on leveraging civilian six-sigma experience within the Navy Reserve Engineering community for the Naval Sea Systems Command.

Reactor Training Officer

  • Directed extensive Aircraft Carrier nuclear engineering training program for 300 technicians and engineers

  • Achieved a 25% operational EFFICIENCY improvement across four reactor operations teams

  • Pioneered the development of new Navy shipboard nuclear engineering training procedures that were used as a new benchmark for other aircraft carriers

  • Senior Engineering Supervisor during propulsion plant maintenance period

  • One of four Engineering Officers directing shipboard engineering operations while at sea - awarded a commendation for performance of watch team

Operations Department Officer

  • Directed operational planning and execution for Multi-Million dollar organization that included three divisions responsible for SHIPBOARD operations and COMMUNICATIONs.

  • Achieved 100% operational reliability with a 20% personnel shortfall and 10% budget reduction

  • Oversaw all training, logistics, and communication as well as strategic and tactical planning for ship during six-month deployment to the persian gulf

  • Directed multi-national operations exercise, receiving commendation for improving international cooperation between Navies of United States, United Kingdom, and Bahrain.

Force Radiological Controls Officer

  • Delivered over 3200 hours of on-site nuclear engineering technical assistance to eleven Navy customers, achieving 100% operational certification of Atlantic Fleet surface nuclear powered ships.

  • Key liaison between fleet and the Department of Energy’s office of Naval reactors on all radiological and chemistry issues.

Reactor Controls Division Officer

  • Directed multi-functional team efforts in conducting complex reactor power plant testing during new construction of aircraft carrier,

  • recognized for leadership and key role in meeting critical milestones including initial certification and criticality testing. 

  • Managed team of 30 technicians assigned to operate and maintain 15 electronic reactor control safety systems.
